Lightweight overnight hike practice - showing Scouts what to expect at Scouthike in terms of hiking, camping and cooking. 2nd Mortdale will also be attending this camp. If you are going to Scouthike and haven't been before you should plan to attend this camp, although all Scouts are welcome.
Where possible we will have Scouts working in the patrols they are in for Scouthike. Scouts not going to Scouthike will be added to other patrols or put in other patrols depending on numbers.
Scouts will walk to a supermarket to buy their food for dinner, breakfast and healthy snacks
Scouts will then pack their packs and go for a hike around the Lime Kiln Wetlands and Oatley Park starting and ending at 2nd Mortdale hall.
Scouts not going to Scouthike are welcome to attend. They can hike with a full backpack for the experience or just carry a day pack on the hike.
Scouts attending Scout Hike are expected to arrive with a back pack packed as if they were going to Scout Hike. The link above shows what you need to pack. Tents and cooking pots will be provided at the hall. If you do not have a sleeping mat, 2nd Mortdale has 12mm foam mats for sale for $8 and lighweight blow up mats for $15 - contact leaders.
